The objective of this research is to study the implementation requirements of an experiential approach to training future science teacher in a minority setting, as well as its effects on the development of their pedagogical skill set. We propose an experiential approach where pedagogical competencies are developed through planned scientific activities while taking into account the experiences of teaching candidates in minority education settings. As part of this Colloquium, we will present our preliminary findings regarding the implementation requirements of this experiential approach to training science teacher candidates in a minority setting.
