SPEAKER: Adriana Jordan, Peter Rabinovitch, Bao Nguyen (N/A) DATE: Friday, March 24, 2017 TIME: 1:00 pm ROOM: See below in abstract ABSTRACT: What can you do with a degree in mathematics? Answer: a great many things! Please join us for an afternoon of career development specifically focused on mathematics. Whether you're a math major or you combine your math courses with other disciplines, you'll probably want to know that people with math skills are highly employable and hugely desirable in the real world. In fact, they've been named as the number one most desirable asset in some disciplines. The session has two parts. The first will consist of three talks covering a variety of career paths that mathematics can take you on. The second will be more informal and give you an opportunity to ask questions individually and network with other students. Please note that these sessions are in different rooms. Time: 13:00–16:00 Career talks: STE B0138 (13:00-14:20) Refreshments/mingling: KED B4 (14:30–16:00) (You may attend either one, but space is limited in the second.) Organizer: Robert Smith? (Department of Mathematics) Speakers: Adriana Jordan (Mathnasium Kanata) Peter Rabinovitch (Data for Good Ottawa) Bao Nguyen (Defence Research Development Canada)
